Example
A French supplier delivers equipment to a Glasgow warehouse; the Glasgow buyer unloads and clears UK import.
Where it is used
Any mode. Specify the exact destination point where goods will be placed ready for unloading.
DAP responsibilities
Seller
- Arrange and pay transport to destination
- Bear risk to the named place
- Clear goods for export and transit
Buyer
- Unload the arriving vehicle
- Clear goods for import and pay import charges
- Take delivery at the agreed point
- Delivery point
- Specify the exact destination point where goods will be placed ready for unloading.
- Risk transfer
- Transfers when goods are placed at the buyer's disposal on the arriving means of transport, ready for unloading.
- Cost responsibilities
- Seller pays through arrival at the named destination. Buyer pays unloading, import duty/tax and import clearance.
- Insurance
- Neither party must insure; seller normally covers its risk through destination.
- Customs
- Export: Seller. Import: Buyer. Seller pays export and transit charges; buyer pays import duty, import VAT and clearance charges.
